This week in MarTech: OneTrust Raises $300 Million, Hopin Acquires Streamyard, SalesLoft Raises $100 Million, Amazon Acquires Wondery and Google Pilots Video Search Feature.
OneTrust Raises $300 Million
OneTrust secures $300 million in their latest series C funding reaching a $5.1 billion valuation led by TCV, bringing OneTrust’s total money raised to $710 million in the last 18 months.
The round was also joined by OneTrust’s existing investors, including Insight Partners and Coatue.
“Our mission is to build the technology platform that creates the trust fabric of an organization, while addressing the hundreds of privacy, security, and compliance requirements they are faced with today,” said Kabir Barday, OneTrust CEO and Fellow of Information Privacy.
Hopin Acquires Streamyard
Hopping into our next story, Hopin is making more headlines, this time with an acquisition. The Virtual events platform, Hopin, who raised $125 million in series B round funding last year, has now announced the acquisition of video streaming studio, StreamYard for $250 million.
The purchase will allow Hopin to provide advanced video production features to Hopin event organisers. In addition to eventually integrating its features into the Hopin platform, StreamYard will continue to also offer its live streaming studio tools to independent content creators.
“When I founded Hopin, I wanted to replicate all the best aspects of physical events -- from one-on-one networking to exploring an expo -- and more. As Hopin became the go-to virtual venue for event organizers, the next product to add was professional-quality video production…” Said Johnny Boufarhat, founder and CEO of Hopin.
SalesLoft Raises $100 Million
Next up, Sales engagement platform, SalesLoft raises $100 million in a new round of funding, bringing its valuation to a total of $1.1 billion.
“There’s been a fast-growing trend in sales for inside sales, which is individuals who are utilizing technology to engage with their customers and prospects,” CEO, Kyle Porter said. “And now with the pandemic, inside sales is just sales.”
With the new funding, SalesLoft plans on investing in product innovation, scaling its enterprise products, and expanding into new verticals.
Amazon Acquires Wondery
At the end of last month, Amazon announced the acquisition of podcast network, Wondery, for an undisclosed price as Amazon ramps up its efforts to take on podcast giant, Spotify.
Wondery will become part of Amazon Music, which added support for podcasts (including its own original shows) in September.
“With Amazon Music, Wondery will be able to provide even more high-quality, innovative content and continue their mission of bringing a world of entertainment and knowledge to their audiences, wherever they listen,” Amazon wrote.
Google Pilots Video Search Feature
And for our final story, Google pilots a search feature that aggregates short-form videos from TikTok and Instagram.
The move is expected to help Google retain its users (who are in search of social video entertainment) from exiting their platform. Earlier this year, Google rolled it out for testing and introduced a carousel of “Short Videos” within Google Discover.
Google are yet to formally comment on the details of their plans, but it’s been reported that the feature is currently being piloted on mobile.
