Bluefish Expands Its Agentic Marketing Platform Into Paid Media

Paid Media Briefs launch with coverage of Google and ChatGPT

Bluefish, which helps big brands track and improve how they appear in AI answers, has moved into paid media. There’s no new funding attached to this one. It’s a product expansion.

Using AI answers to plan ad spend

The new feature is called Paid Media Briefs. It builds on the GEO tools Bluefish already offers and recommends targeting, creative and landing pages for ads on Google and ChatGPT. In practice, Bluefish looks at where a brand is missing from AI responses, or being described wrongly, and suggests where paid media could plug the gap.

Google and ChatGPT are only the start. Bluefish says sponsored publisher content, creator partnerships, user-generated content and retail media are on the roadmap, and it’s building MCP and API integrations so the data can feed into tools enterprise teams already use.

CEO Alex Sherman made the case that “the agentic funnel doesn’t distinguish between organic and paid marketing”, and argued that marketing platforms shouldn’t either.

A slightly awkward backdrop

There’s an interesting wrinkle here. Bluefish’s own holiday report from earlier this year found that paid media had little direct effect on AI answers over the 2025 holiday season, which matches other research suggesting up to 95% of AI citations come from non-paid sources. So the pitch isn’t that ads change what AI says about you. It’s that what AI says about you should decide where your ads go.

What It Means for Marketing

In most large companies, the SEO team and the paid media team sit in different places, use different tools and rarely share data. Bluefish is betting that AI search will force them together. Whether or not you use a platform like this, it’s a fair question for any brand spending on Google or testing ChatGPT ads: do you know what the AI is saying about you right next to where your ads appear?
