Principal Consultant & Technical Solutions Architect - Martech/Marketing Technology

All arms of our business are growing fast and we are looking for a seasoned principal consultant & technical solutions architect (don't worry the job title fits on a business card - we checked) to help accelerate our growth. Working closely with the CEO and consultancy services MD you will be in a pivotal role in driving the business.
About the role:
This role is specifically focused on our boutique martech consultancy services helping enterprise clients develop their martech strategies. To ultimately deliver on our company vision to help make marketing technology simple(r).
The position centres around delivering our 4Ps of marketing technology framework programme; planning & strategy, people & teams, platforms, apps & ecosystems and process & operations. The project is an audit through to road map development and delivery.
This is a very hands on role suited to a highly ambitious person with a 'get shit done' approach. What follows is in 'consultancy speak' for ease of explaining the role in industry terms.
- Business discovery & audit - Uncover the current martech capabilities & gaps through assessing client martech maturity. From marketing stack & platform audits, data & operational governance assessment, competitor tech benchmarking, customer journey mapping & tech alignment, marketing KPIs & attribution review, work shopping & interviewing stakeholders, you will be hands on throughout the programme.
- Road map design - Identifying the martech initiatives (team training, new hires, new solutions needed, retiring tools, etc) needed through to modelling their impact, the resource they require & timelining their delivery to drive the marketing vision. From designing the marketing stack architecture, developing the data & operational governance needed to presenting clients with the proposed martech strategy you will own the programme.
- Project management & vendor selection - Project manage the client martech roadmap initiation - requirement gathering, technical feasibility assessment, diagramming flows, business requirement technical translation, align system capabilities, RFP development & management, impact mapping, vendor demoing & selection, ownership of technology solutions from estimation and design through to delivery, acceptance and operation.
- Technical analysis and solution design development - Technical architecture and solution design, assessment of data sources for migration (including hygiene, completeness and consent), data modelling, marketing technical capabilities development, hosting infrastructure and deployment assessment (infrastructure and service deployment - e.g. AWS).
- Deployment, support & onboarding - Project managing the client martech initiative delivery - vendor management, stakeholder management of technical & non technical users, documentation of platforms & processes, leading onboarding training workshops, championing new systems/processes, driving user adoption, clear and precise documentation of analysis outcome and architecture designs, working with the delivery teams and clients to ensure solution design is adhered to. Work with the team to deliver innovations into the business across technology, process, definition or service approach that reduce the cost of ongoing development or create opportunities further opportunities with our clients.

About your experience:
- Vendor solutions & categories - marketing automation, CRM, web analytics, A/B testing, tag management, CDP, DMP, CMS, social media management platforms etc, with platforms such as Marketo, Oracle Marketing Cloud, Adobe, Google 360, BigQuery, SalesForce, Sitecore, Microsoft Dynamics, Tealium, Lytics or similar.
- Coding languages - A thorough understanding of multiple coding languages and working with development/design them from an algorithm and schema perspective. HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, SQL, J2EE, PHP, .NET, Spring, Struts, etc.
- Project scoping & management - Knowledgeable in building marketing technology investment business cases, running platform selection programmes, etc. CRM, marketing automation, tag management, data modelling, attribution, and overall marketing technology strategy development & roadmapping.
- Enterprise platform configuration - In-depth understanding of the capabilities and limitations of 1 or more enterprise vendor solutions, ideally Marketing Clouds and CDPs. Hands-on implementation and solution design skills are necessary.
- eDM platform configuration - Understanding of industry needs and platform considerations/capabilities as part of a holistic architecture. This includes industry best practices for improving deliverability (SPF, DKIM & DMARC configuration), IP warming plans, IP whitelisting etc.
- Data privacy - Solid understanding of GDPR.
- Documentation - Ability to produce technical documentation using industry-standard tools such as Visio, confluence, Jira etc.
Data Analysis and Design - understanding of data structures and analysis in simple and standard formats skills with RDBMS and SQL, preferred but not limited to MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS

- Integration - Experience building, stitching and managing a marketing stack. Demonstrated understanding of the integration of complex enterprise environments and dynamic cloud services. Ability to design and manage API solutions including content contracts and naming conventions. Specifically the movement of complex and PII data over API, File, ESB, ETL technology for use in Marketing Communications.
- Enterprise solution architecture - Demonstrated ability to design solutions from a Systems perspective and convey that information appropriately. Knowledge of architectural concepts including design patterns, database design and service-oriented solutions.
- Performance - Understanding of performance criteria and measurement. Delivery Experience working within and/or implementing project management methodologies: PRINCE2 (Waterfall), Agile (Scrum/Kanban).
- Previous companies - Having worked in an marketing technology/technology agency/consultancy would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Previous roles - You may have worked as a technical solutions architect, technical implementation consultant, technical consultant, data/insight analytics director, etc.
About your education:

- BA or Masters in Information Science, Computer Science, or related discipline with technical experience
- Preferred Certifications - Architect or Developer level certifications for one vendor or more is desired.
